Sector Research
The China Greentech Initiative is conducting research across seven sectors:
- Cleaner Conventional Energy. Technologies and solutions for reducing the environmental impact of traditional nonrenewable sources of energy, such as coal, gas, oil and nuclear.
- Renewable Energy. Energy generated from natural resources — including sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat — which can be replenished in a short period of time. The China Greentech Initiative is focusing on the wind, solar and bioenergy markets.
- Electric Power Infrastructure. The advanced power networks that deliver electric power to users when needed in an efficient and reliable way, which includes electricity transmission, distribution, service location, storage, and information communications (smart grid) functions.
- Green Building. Building techniques that are more sustainable, efficient and healthy than conventional building throughout all stages of a building's lifecycle, including infrastructure development, design and construction, and management areas.
- Cleaner Transportation. Transportation solutions which increase energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and better utilize resources in the road, railway, waterway and air markets.
- Cleaner Industry. Practices that increase energy efficiency, minimize pollution of air and water, and reduce the amount of solid waste in any one or across many industries.
- Clean Water. Activities comprising the economic water cycle, including water extraction, treatment, distribution, use and treatment.
